Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and organized Volunteer Coordinator to join our hospice care team. This individual will be responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating hospice volunteers by building relationships with local high schools, colleges, churches, and community organizations. The Volunteer Coordinator will also conduct home visits to assess the needs and appropriateness of volunteer services for patients and their families!
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment & Community Outreach
Develop and maintain relationships with local high schools, colleges, faith-based organizations, and community groups to promote the volunteer program.
Attend and present at career fairs, community events, and volunteer expos to recruit potential volunteers.
Coordinate promotional materials and social media content to attract volunteers.
Volunteer Management
Conduct orientation, training, and continuing education for new and existing volunteers.
Match volunteers with appropriate assignments based on their interests, availability, and patient needs.
Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, ensuring compliance with hospice policies and regulations.
Patient & Family Assessment
Visit patients’ homes to assess their interest and appropriateness for volunteer services.
Communicate with families and patients about the scope and expectations of volunteer involvement.
Work closely with the clinical team to ensure volunteer assignments align with patient care plans.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours, and documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Prepare reports related to volunteer hours and activities.
Ensure all volunteers have up-to-date background checks and required documentation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field preferred.
Must have a workable car and be willing to drive around metro Atlanta.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; travel to patient homes and community sites is essential.
Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate, organized, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of hospice philosophy and volunteer services a plus!
Working Conditions:
Office-based with frequent travel to community sites and patient homes in Fayetteville and surrounding areas.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for community events and volunteer training.
