Golf Maintenance

Job Title: Golf Maintenance I, II, III Department: Golf Classification: Non-Exempt Seasonal: April 1st - October 31st (dependent on need and weather conditions)

Pay Based Upon Experience (see grades below) Golf Maintenance I (hourly): $19.14/min - $21.11/mid - $23.08/max Golf Maintenance II (hourly): $21.16/min - $23.28/mid - $25.40/max Golf Maintenance III (hourly): $23.28/min - $25.61/mid - $27.93/max

Position Summary

Performs administrative, technical, preventative, and corrective mechanical maintenance and repair of grounds-keeping equipment and golf cars for the Golf division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the general direction of the Director of Golf. Supervises and oversees staff as necessary in the maintenance shop when additional work is needed during high volume repair and maintenance seasons of the year.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintenance: Provides analysis and troubleshooting on golf grounds-keeping equipment and golf carts, including equipment problems, repairing, rebuilding and part replacement. Performs welding and fabricating as needed on gasoline and diesel powered equipment. Repairs suspensions, hydraulic, fuel and cooling systems, brake issues and power/drive train. Performs electrical diagnostics and repair on all types of vehicles and equipment. Changes and repairs tires. Performs field service as needed on all golf carts and grounds-keeping equipment, such as sharpening of mowers. Responsible for maintaining and calibrating mower height. Washes carts and grounds equipment, and takes other appropriate maintenance measures, as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Inspects golf grounds-keeping and golf carts daily prior to use for fluid levels, tire pressure, wear on attachments or other problems. Monitors, coordinates, and performs preventative maintenance duties in compliance with established schedules and procedures. Maintains records and logs on equipment maintenance. Performs and organizes a routine sharpening and related maintenance program on mowing equipment.
  • Purchasing: Monitors and tracks inventory, orders, and purchases supplies to maintain adequate inventory.

Displays the following key competencies in the overall job performance to include knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge: of the principles and techniques of golf maintenance operations; landscaping, lawn care, and horticulture and equipment operation. Skills: in the use of tools, equipment and supplies involved in general maintenance and construction of buildings, landscape grounds and native areas. Ability: to communicate concisely and effectively through a variety of methods, such as email, written reports, and verbally. Ability to recognize problems and effectively work independently or with others to reach a viable solution.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Two years of mechanical and diagnostic experience. Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email. Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date. Desirable Qualifications: Previous experience with specialized golf course equipment.

NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.

Position Type and Work Hours

Regular full time, 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, hours may vary with workload. Evenings/Weekends: Occasionally will be required depending on department needs and special events. Work Environment: Indoors: Occasionally in an office environment. Outdoors/Off-Site: Work is primarily on golf course and golf course facilities. Meetings, trainings, and conferences at a variety of city facilities and areas. Essential Physical Requirements: Lifting & Carrying: Occasionally up to 50 lbs. unassisted such as lawn and turf equipment, tools, etc. Physical: Reaching, standing, sitting, typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, seeing, driving, and hearing.
