Utilization Review Nurse II - Case Manager - 36388330

Position Summary
The Utilization Review Nurse II performs utilization review, discharge planning, and care coordination to ensure appropriate hospital resource use, maximize reimbursement, and support safe patient transitions. This role evaluates medical records, collaborates with physicians and care teams, develops discharge plans, and educates providers on documentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review inpatient admissions and ongoing care for medical necessity and payor compliance.
• Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Ensure authorization for elective procedures and specialized tests.
• Serve as a resource for providers regarding reimbursement, prior authorization, and documentation.
• Teach and mentor staff on payor documentation requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license .
• Level II: Minimum 1 year of utilization review/discharge planning in an acute care hospital or case management setting.
• Alternative pathway: 5 years of case management experience in a clinic/physician’s office performing utilization/discharge planning.
• Current BLS certification (AHA).
• Experience in acute care, ICU, or ED required; trauma or teaching facility experience preferred.

Valid California RN license.
