Ascend Behavioral Health is a locally owned and operated organization committed to expanding access to mental health care in the Central Valley for Teens. Founded in 2019, we have steadily grown to meet the rising demand for behavioral health services, offering a wide range of care options including inpatient mental health beds, detox/substance use disorder beds, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Our vision is to create a community where everyone has access to the mental health care they need and deserve.

Clinician Responsibilities:

  • Conduct bio-psychosocial intake assessments to gather client history, determine appropriate level of care, and provide accurate diagnoses using the DSM-V.
  • Manage a caseload of 9-13 clients, utilizing evidence-based practices to address clients' needs on a short- to mid-term timeline.
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans and preliminary discharge plans, focusing on realistic, achievable goals.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions (3 hours) within our IOP and PHP programs, working with group sizes of 8-12 members.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and attend weekly staff meetings and case consultations.
  • Engage with clients' family members to discuss treatment goals and assist with discharge planning.
  • Complete timely documentation, including progress notes, group notes, treatment plan reviews, and insurance utilization reviews.
  • Work with case managers to ensure that external needs are met and provide appropriate referrals for services outside the agency.
  • Available to work in our Residential and Outpatient setting.

Requirements:
  • Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited graduate school
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the mental health field
  • Skills: Strong documentation skills, decision-making ability, excellent verbal and written communication, people management, conflict resolution, and integrity
  • Licensure: Registered Associate with BBS and a valid driver’s license
  • Certifications: Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification, and pass pre-employment drug screenings and medical clearance (TB test and health screening)
  • Available to work in our Residential and Outpatient setting.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands required for 33% – 66% of the workday (2.5 – 5.5+ hrs/day)
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (20-50 lbs), pushing/pulling (20-50 lbs)
  • Moderate frequency of computer use, including keyboarding and monitor viewing
