Job Description

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for the design, planning, layout creation, and preparation of artwork for inclusion in technical manuals and publications. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Prepares charts, graphs and two- and three-dimensional drawings, files and animation from rough sketches, models, written or verbal direction, photographs and/or engineering drawings; illustrates and/or animates tools, products, machines, parts, procedures, buildings, figures and full system models. + Coordinates requirements with users to determine illustrative objectives. + Edits, rewrites and authenticates technical user manuals, application papers, product descriptions, data sheets and specification books; receives text from technical staff and rewrites documentation in a clear and concise style. + Determines composition of technical illustrations and selects views, angles, perspectives and projections; improves editorial and visual standards for documents and recommends new designs, layouts and procedures. + Ensures quality through analysis of engineering models to engineering drawings and logistics management information databases. + Represent the group, with internal and external customers and vendors, as a primary representative to ascertain project requirements and specifications and ensure schedule, cost, and quality requirements are met. + Provides technical guidance to less experienced staff. + Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. + Performs other duties as required. + Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. + Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Equivalent work experience may be substituted in lieu of education. + Must demonstrate an extensive understanding of technical illustration practices and concepts; and engineering drawings of a highly technical nature and mark-up languages. + Must be able to understand and manipulate 3D engineering models and be able to adhere to drafting standards and specifications. + Extensive knowledge of file formats and their functions, file export requirements and developing illustrations and animations. + Must be customer focused and possess: + the ability to grasp new concepts quickly + the ability to identify issues and recognize deviations from accepted practices and processes and resolve unusually complex issues + strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report + working knowledge of computer operations and applications + Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential. + Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. **Salary:** $79,150 - $120,880 **Travel Percentage Required** 0 - 25 **Relocation Assistance Provided** Not Provided **US Citizenship Required?** Yes **Clearance Required?** Desired **Clearance Level** Mid-Level (3-7 years) **Workstyle** Hybrid General Atomics is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
