GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for oversight and continual improvement of Sierra Technical Services' Quality Management System (QMS) and the relevant processes and procedures that are necessary to ensure compliance with AS9100D/ISO9001:2015.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    \n
  • Maintains and improves the AS9100D/ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System tailored for Rapid Prototyping/Development Environment
  • \n
  • Directs activities to identify, define, and resolve quality problems and provide strategic guidance to STS quality inspectors.
  • \n
  • Effectively engages with business functions to include collaboration with Engineering and Operations to drive quality initiatives and best practices.
  • \n
  • Collaborates with the Operations Manager and Manufacturing Leads to ensure STS's quality requirements are tailored to development and are clearly understood, documented, and incorporated into the manufacturing plans
  • \n
  • Partners with Manufacturing Engineering to incorporate the requirements of the QMS into build documentation and work packages.
  • \n
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors performance metrics that supports the STS's Quality goals/objectives.
  • \n
  • Manages the Internal Audit program and serves as a liaison with third party auditors utilizing corrective action to drive change.
  • \n
  • Manages configuration management and document control while maintaining STS' Technical Library of files for completed manufacturing, configuration management, and quality inspection documentation.
  • \n
  • Maintains the STS Calibration program.
  • \n
  • Develops and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation and ensures that appropriate inspections and tests are performed.
  • \n
  • Assists and/or prepare quality assurance documentation to include Non-Conformance Reports, Standard Repairs, Corrective/Preventive Action Requests
  • \n
  • Establishes systems to improve supplier quality with Supply Chain Management.
  • \n
  • Establishes, track, analyze, and report the results of key quality metrics during periodic reviews of the Quality Management System with to senior leadership.
  • \n
  • Promotes a culture of quality awareness and coordinating changes across all departments and is actively engaged with stakeholders at all levels ensuring correct procedures are followed and changes are accurately recorded, scheduled, and controlled.
  • \n
  • Analyzes potential future needs and develops time-phased plans to acquire personnel, technology, and equipment to support anticipated requirements.
  • \n
  • Evaluates quality personnel performance and provide training to department personnel or others as needed.
  • \n
  • Tracks company training in coordination with Human Resources.
  • \n
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    \n
  • B.S. or equivalent experience in aeronautical engineering, manufacturing, or similarly relevant discipline required.
  • \n
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' prior experience establishing and maintaining a Quality Management System or quality assurance related management and direct supervisory experience in an aerospace manufacturing, modification or development environment.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100, FAA Part 145 Repair Station, DOD, MIL-STD, and other relevant aerospace industry standards is required.
  • \n
  • Quality certification desirable, such as CQM, CQE, or related.
  • \n
  • In-depth understanding of inspection techniques, testing, and documenting of quality issues as it relates to composite fabrication and assembly.
  • \n
  • Ability to work with Microsoft tools, CATIA, Solid works, or computer-generated models or other similar types of engineering data.
  • \n
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • \n
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance/access approval at the appropriate level, (requires U.S. Citizenship), ( Active Clearance Preferred ).
  • \n
  • Must be able to hold and maintain a valid U.S. Driver's license.
  • \n

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    \n
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods - 9 hours minimum.
  • \n
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs unassisted.
  • \n
  • May be exposed to high level noise, dust, and vibration and chemical fumes (within OSHA limits).
  • \n
  • Continuous use of both hands including grasping, pulling, and pushing.
  • \n
  • Walking and balancing on even and uneven surfaces.
  • \n
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, crawl, and be able to reach overhead and below the shoulder.
  • \n
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • \n

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • May occasionally be required for business travel based on up to 5% of-the-time.
