Principal Engineer – Embedded Cybersecurity – GE Aerospace Research Join to apply for the Principal Engineer – Embedded Cybersecurity – GE Aerospace Research role at GE Aerospace Job Description Summary At GE Aerospace Research, our team develops advanced embedded systems technology for the future of flight. Our technology aims to enable sustainable air travel and next-generation aviation systems for both commercial and military applications. As a Principal Embedded Cybersecurity Engineer, you will architect and develop next-generation embedded platforms and security technologies. You will lead and contribute to research and development programs for GE Aerospace and U.S. Government Agencies, collaborating with researchers across various disciplines. Responsibilities Develop and apply advanced cybersecurity technologies for embedded systems in GE Aerospace products. Collaborate with hardware, software, and firmware teams, as well as tool providers, to identify solutions for challenging applications. Lead medium to large projects or tasks. Document technology and results through patents, reports, and publications. Stay current with advances in embedded cybersecurity and seek new ideas and applications. Work with teams across GE Aerospace and government agencies. Contribute to proposal responses for GE Aerospace and government agencies (DARPA, NASA, AFRL, etc.). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience, or Master’s with 10+ years, or Ph.D. with 7+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Experience with embedded devices (e.g., Xilinx, NXP, MicroChip). Experience with hardware security (e.g., UEFI, TPM, TrustZone, Secure Boot). Experience with embedded software development (Linux, RTOS). Knowledge of Linux OS security. Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Go, Rust. Familiarity with CNSA 1.0/2.0 and NIST cryptography standards. Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance. Willing to travel at least 2 weeks/year. US citizenship required. Willing to work in Niskayuna, NY. Preferred Skills Active US Security Clearance. Experience with networking protocols and security. Experience with cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, wolfSSL). Experience with RTOS environments (VxWorks, FreeRTOS). Knowledge of anti-tamper and cross-domain solutions. Ability to translate ideas from concept to product. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Experience with Agile project management. Additional Information The salary range is $130,000 - $240,000 annually, plus discretionary bonuses. The role requires U.S. export-controlled information access, contingent on government approval.
