Job Description

The Charles Town Police Department is seeking qualified applicants to be appointed to the position of Probationary Police Officer. The current salary for this position is $57,462 for a WV certified police officer and $56,060 for an uncertified individual. Generous benefits are provided.

Applicants with a current West Virginia Law Enforcement Certification are eligible to receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus.
Applicants with a current out-of-state Law Enforcement Certification are eligible to receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Non-Certified Applicants are eligible to receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
To be considered for the position, interested persons must:

Submit a completed application to the Charles Town Police Department, 661 South George Street, Suite 100, Charles Town, WV, by 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2025. Applications can be obtained at the Police Department or downloaded from the departments website:

Pass a competitive written examination that will begin at 9:00 a.m. on November 1, 2025, at the Police Department; and
On the date of testing, successfully meet the requirements on a physical agility screening test as set forth by the West Virginia State Police Academy.
