Position Type: Full Time

Education Level: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold Arkansas Practical Nurses License. Must meet clearance specifications through OLTC Registry check system. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be computer literate and capable of operating basic office machines. Some clerical experience is desired.

SUMMARY: Provides quality services to consumers by coordinating medical and health related matters and/or files for Friendship Pediatric Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs initial screening and reviews medial history on potential children for FPS services.
  • Performs functions of assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting all assigned patient care in collaboration with families and physicians
  • Provides routine medical information to parents as requested.
  • Acts as First Responder to accidents and incidents.
  • Acts as health and safety officer for the preschool.
  • Ensures required safety drills are completed and documented each month.
  • Evaluate safety conditions/practices and notify supervisors of any violations or potential hazards.
  • Assists with hygiene-showers, nail clipping, etc.
  • Able to assemble and properly use medical equipment
  • Performs medical procedures such as respiratory treatments, catheterizations, tube feedings, glucose monitoring, pulse oximetry as needed or assigns/supervises trained staff to perform treatments.
  • Maintains proper storage, handling, and inventory of all medications
  • Monitors compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies
  • Assures all classrooms and transportation vehicles have required medical supplies
  • Routinely updates medical information on clients in EHR (Credible) including any treated accident or injury, immunizations, and physicals.
  • Conducts assessments of height and weight as ordered by client's physician.
  • Consults with local/regional doctors in medical case management as needed.
  • Maintains current certification in CPR, First Aid and provides staff training in CPR/First Aid for the region as needed.
  • Contact the physician and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed.
  • Conducts Safety Checks at various facilities, as assigned.
  • Provides training to staff at pediatric sites, as assigned and as needed.
  • Ensures FCC Policies/Procedures manual maintained/followed
  • Ensures FCC Policies/Procedures to ensure the nursing department operates within guidelines set for by state regulatory agencies including Minimum Licensing Requirements for Childcare Centers, EIDT, Health, Fire & other safety related rules and regulations
  • Ensures safe, clean facilities are maintained.
  • Exhibits knowledge of developments/trends in developmental disabilities. Stays current on information/new practices in serving children with developmental disabilities.
  • Participates in conferences and in-service training as required by DDS and/or administration, including required out of town travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

QUALITY ASSURANCE & COMPLIANCE : To adhere to the following and comply with all Quality Assurance's & HIPAA procedures:

  • The Code of Conduct and Compliance Investigation Procedures as read and discussed in the new employee training must be followed.
  • Consumers' progress notes be maintained and completed daily or as needed on the prescribed forms.
  • Consumers' records must be maintained weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. All information must be filed in consumers' records as needed and updated as prescribed by funding sources.
