Manchester University invites applications for a dynamic and enthusiastic Adjunct Lecturer in Computer Science to join our online teaching team for the Fall 2025 semester. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in computer science, excellence in teaching, and a passion for engaging students in both theoretical and applied computing concepts.
What You'll Do:
Teach undergraduate-level Computer Science courses such as:
Introduction to Programming (Python, Java, C++)
Video Game Creation
Data Structures and Algorithms
Database Systems
Software Engineering
Web Development
Operating Systems and Computer Architecture
Develop and revise curriculum to align with current industry standards
Deliver engaging lectures, labs, and assignments using modern technology and pedagogical practices
Maintain virtual office hours and provide academic advising and mentorship
Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
Participate in departmental activities including curriculum planning and assessment
What You'll Need:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field
College-level teaching experience (instructor, TA, or online teaching experience)
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, C++)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Computer Science or a related discipline
Experience teaching non-traditional or community college student populations
Industry certifications (e.g., AWS, CompTIA, Cisco) or relevant professional experience
Experience with hybrid or online teaching platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle)
Knowledge in emerging areas such as cybersecurity, data science, machine learning, or cloud computing
