POSITION SUMMARY: Under the leadership of the program coordinator and/or director, the Kid Zone Supervisor provides direct supervision to the staff responsible for children in a childcare setting. They will help to provide leadership to the staff and a quality experience to children and parents through our YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The Kid Zone Care Supervisor is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA. Job Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, 4:15 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday, Saturdays 7:30 a.m. - noon, and Sundays 10:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Must work at least two shifts per week, or if weekends only, then three shifts per month. Sub-only option is also available but must work a minimum of 4 shifts per month. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides direct supervision to staff during the shifts in Kid Zone. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Leads the staff by role modeling child and member engagement at all times. Communicates with the Program Coordinator/Director regarding any questions or concerns. Communicates effectively with members on Kid Zone policies and procedures. Ensures that safety procedures are known and followed by the staff in Kid Zone Care and Kid Zone Classes. Checks coverage before each shift begins and coordinates with the Program Coordinator/Director to ensure adequate coverage according to branch guidelines. Assists in the organization and implementation of daily and monthly activities and events. Attends staff meetings and trainings. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to dress code, medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or GED required with at least 2 years’ experience working with young children. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Must be professional, courteous and friendly, have a high level of initiative and be a self-starter. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen (or equivalent) within first 30 days of hire.
