Refrigeration Technician Apprentice Job Summary:

The person occupying this position will be responsible for a assisting with a variety of refrigeration systems while inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and tasks under an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Technician. The person occupying this position is expected to represent the Company in a professional and courteous manner.

Refrigeration Technician Apprentice Duties/Responsibilities:

• Monitor and record temperatures of refrigerated warehouses
• Read and report compressor logs
• Carry out routine maintenance of existing refrigeration systems
• Trouble shoot existing refrigeration systems
• Respond and assist with unscheduled maintenance of existing refrigeration systems
• Continuously improve the preventative maintenance program based on monitored data and repair history
• Keep machine rooms clean and orderly
• Maintain dehumidifier and air handlers in proper working order
• Monitor and adjust water treatments as required by service representative
• Assist the Ammonia Refrigeration Technician with a variety of tasks under direct supervision
• Continued education in refrigeration, controls, low voltage, etc.

Refrigeration Technician Apprentice Required Skills/Abilities:

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized
• Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently while following written and verbal instructions
• Basic tool and mechanical knowledge
• Ability to work flexible hours or overtime as required

Refrigeration Technician Apprentice Education and Experience:

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent
• Required: Valid Missouri Drivers’ License
• Preferred: Training and certification related to ammonia and refrigeration

Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Physical and/or Travel Requirements:

• Periodic local travel required occasion overnight travel for training
• Periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds required
• Long periods of overhead work must be well tolerated
• The ability to bend, stop, and stand for long periods at a time is required.
