Location: University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Employment Type: Full-Time, Live-In,

Term of Service : Start immediately. Academic school year, including pre-opening for recruitment and post-closing responsibilities.

Position Overview

The Sorority House Director plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and comfort of the sorority house. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage daily operations while fostering a welcoming environment for members and guests.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Duties:

• Ensure all doors and windows are securely locked and closed for safety.
• Greet and assist guests, acting as a hostess for visitors.
• Sort and distribute mail to designated mailboxes.
• Maintain open communication with house staff (Chef, Kitchen Assistant, Housekeeper) to ensure duties are completed and coordinate coverage if needed.
• Monitor parking areas and manage guest parking arrangements.
• Maintain general tidiness in common areas and encourage members to keep spaces clutter-free.

Weekly Duties:

• Prepare for and attend Monday Night Dinner, coordinating with kitchen staff.
• Verify proper delivery of linens and communicate dietary needs or meal requests to the Chef.
• Work with heating engineer during weekly visits and schedule maintenance with outside vendors as needed.
• Order necessary supplies for staff and household needs.
• Wash placemats and water house plants.

Monthly Duties:

• Attend monthly Associated Housing Corporation (AHC) and Collegian House meetings to address concerns and share updates.
• Coordinate repairs and manage snow removal and lawn care services.
• Oversee opening and closing of the house, including key management and condition checks.
• Schedule kitchen hood cleaning (every 6 months) and de-lime kitchen sanitizer.
• Prepare for annual inspections and sprinkler system checks.
• Update House Director binder with current staff and vendor contact information.

Qualifications:

· Must consent to a background check conducted by an independent third party

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with staff and vendors.
• Prior experience in property management, hospitality, or a similar role preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

Living arrangements : House Director has a furnished “apartment” in the chapter house with a

bedroom, bathroom, and living room. Includes a laptop and cable TV, with a dedicated parking space at the house.

Meals: Access to all meals provided to members at the house.

Salary: $45,000-$50,000 depending on level of experience

Stipends: Monthly stipend offered for Health Insurance, Cell Phone and Mileage costs.
