Job Title: Epic Billing Analyst

Compensation: 110k-140k/Year

Position Overview
The Epic Billing Analyst is a key member of the healthcare IT team, specializing in Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) billing modules— Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) and/or Professional Billing (PB) . This role is responsible for configuring, optimizing, and supporting billing and revenue cycle processes within the Epic system. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a solid understanding of healthcare billing workflows and regulatory compliance to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely revenue operations.
Key Responsibilities
System Configuration & Optimization
Configure and maintain Epic billing modules (HB/PB), including charge routers, benefit engines, claims processing, and statement generation.
Optimize existing workflows and system setup to support efficiency and compliance.
Workflow Analysis & Solution Design
Conduct detailed analysis of billing workflows and data flows to identify gaps or inefficiencies.
Design and implement system improvements aligned with operational goals.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Serve as a primary support contact for end-users within the billing department.
Investigate and resolve application issues, documenting resolutions and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
Implementation & Upgrades
Participate in or lead the rollout of new Epic features and system upgrades.
Ensure configuration is up to date with the latest billing standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HIPAA).
Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as a liaison between IT, Revenue Cycle, Finance, and operational departments.
Translate business requirements into Epic system configurations and enhancements.
Testing & Documentation
Build, test, and document new system configurations and customizations.
Maintain accurate records of workflows, use cases, and system specifications.
Reporting & Data Analysis
Create and maintain custom reports to support financial analysis, compliance audits, and operational decision-making.
Training & Change Management
Collaborate with training staff to develop materials and communicate system changes.
Support end-user adoption and provide go-live/post-go-live support.
On-Call Support
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 support for critical billing systems.
Required Skills & Competencies
Epic Expertise: Strong working knowledge of Epic Resolute HB and/or PB modules, including work queue management, claim edits, and collections workflows.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex billing scenarios and troubleshoot system-related issues.
Communication Skills: Clear and professional written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
Attention to Detail: Precision in documentation, configuration, and data validation.
Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding of revenue cycle operations, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT), insurance billing practices, and healthcare compliance standards.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (required).
Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience may be considered.
Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of experience supporting healthcare information systems, with emphasis on billing operations.
Hands-on experience with Epic Resolute or similar systems preferred.
Certification:
Epic certification in Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) or Professional Billing (PB) highly preferred.
Willingness to obtain Epic certification within 6 months of hire, if not already certified.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Experience with ticketing systems, project management tools, and data analysis/reporting tools.
