Job Description

**Position Summary:** Under general supervision, researches, develops and designs products as directed. Makes changes to or modifies existing products. Selects components and materials, responsible for completes detail drawings and accurate Bill of Materials, and all pertinent documentation as needed. **Essential Functions of the Job:** Perform and/or coordinate engineering and design work for specific products and projects. Coordinate the development of layouts and design and/or modification in existing products, and information required for production use. Use engineering tools to analyze design to meet requirements for strength, noise, functionality, ergonomics, safety and quality. Communicate and coordinate with suppliers where engineering input is required to develop specifications for products and/or components. Work with production, manufacturing engineering, marketing, service, and engineering personnel during the implementation of a project. Prepare and review complete engineering change packages, including bill of material investigations per departmental procedures for completeness and accuracy. Evaluate product or product modification to determine the degree of success of the product in terms of performance and user satisfaction. May include travel to the field and/or trade shows. Assist engineers and designers with required engineering expertise to complete design activities. Assist with identifying and implementing resolution of production and warranty problems. Assist Engineering staff in instructing others in interpreting the information supplied on detail drawings **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):** Knowledge of 3-D wire frame construction, design layouts, assembly drawings and/or component part drawings required. Good computer skills to include Solid Works background. Knowledge of engineering design standards and manufacturing capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to write or speak technical instructions. Able to plan, prioritize and organize. Good communications skills both verbal and written. **Education and Experience:** A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. **Working Conditions:** Manufacturing setting.
