Summary The Ecological Consultant role is responsible for assessing, mitigating, and providing recommendations regarding the environmental impacts of engineering projects. The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued. Responsibilities Conduct field surveys including habitat assessments, protected species surveys, and wetland delineations. Collect, analyze, and interpret ecological and environmental data. Prepare technical reports, biological assessments, and environmental permitting documents. Ensure compliance with Federal and State Environmental regulations (e.g., ESA, Clean Water Act, NEPA) Coordinate with agencies such as the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Army Corps of Engineers, and State Environmental departments. Support environmental impact assessments and mitigation planning. Assist with environmental permitting processes for development or infrastructire projects. Maintain accurate field notes and GIS/mapping documentation Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or related field 3+ years of relevant experience in ecological consulting or environmental field work Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations Proficient in Wetland delineation with demonstrable experience Proficiency in GIS, GPS mapping, and ecological data collection Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, ability to travel to job sites as needed. Physical Demands & Work Environment Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to thirty-five pounds can be expected, with or without reasonable accommodation. Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment and in the field. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including outdoor work in different weather conditions and potentially remote or challenging locations This is not a remote position.
